AUSTIN, Texas -- Wayport, the leading provider of Wi-Fi (802.11b) wireless and wired high-speed Internet access in more than 650 locations including 565 hotels, 13 airports and 75 San Francisco-San Jose area McDonald's, today announced a services and roaming agreement with SBC Communications Inc., the nation's leading DSL provider. The agreement includes Wayport services in support of SBC Wi-Fi hot spot deployment and provides SBC customers with access to Wayport's nationwide neutral-host high-speed network. SBC companies are teaming with Wayport to provide services that include Wayport's access control, customized SBC splash pages that are "Powered by Wayport," and support. This gives SBC companies an advantage in the public space Wi-Fi industry with speed-to-market, advanced capabilities, quality of service and a consistent connectivity experience for SBC customers.

"Wayport continues to lead the industry with hot spot services and roaming agreements, and this agreement with SBC underscores our commitment to not only deploy Wi-Fi networks on our own, but also assist strategic players like SBC to broaden our reach in the industry," said Dave Vucina, CEO for Wayport. "SBC customers will soon have the opportunity to enjoy the convenience of fast, reliable wireless connectivity that will allow them to stay connected and productive at hundreds of Wayport and SBC locations nationwide." The SBC roaming agreement with Wayport will enable SBC customers to gain instant access to Wayport's nationwide network of more than 650 locations including hotels, airports and restaurants - giving SBC customers high-speed Internet access where they need it most when traveling. This will drive a substantial amount of SBC customers to Wayport partner locations, driving revenue through increased occupancy, food and beverage sales and customer loyalty as more and more travelers search out Wayport enabled locations.

"The agreement with Wayport will augment the extensive SBC Wi-Fi deployment being undertaken," said Brooks McCorcle, vice president, SBC Wi-Fi. "Our goal is to provide SBC customers with a consistent broadband experience at home, the office and on the road, and the agreement with Wayport will provide SBC customers with a greater opportunity to enjoy the benefits of Wi-Fi when they're on the road."
