A Sense of Place
The idea of LEED helping to "create a sense of place" is very important, particularly among urban environments with unique histories (and their associated landmarks).

I think that this holistic approach is absolutely the right one, and I'm curious to better understand how it's being rolled out - that is, whether it's something new that's being taught to communities, or whether this will be enforced through a government mandate, or what. Regardless, this seems to me like the true way forward, as opposed to simply rating buildings individually,

A thoughtful approach
Bravo on this thoughtful approach to development. It's essential to use this kind of rating system going forward. We just don't have the option to do it wrong anymore, IMO. We can't afford more mistakes.
