SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Further demonstrating its commitment to delivering advanced multi-layer switching capabilities for the seamless transport of IP services over Metro networks, Extreme Networks, Inc., (Nasdaq: EXTR - News), today announced that it has completed successful testing of its MPLS solution in the world's largest multi-vendor MPLS interoperability test. Sponsored by the MPLS Forum, the testing joined networking leaders to demonstrate interoperable MPLS features that extend the utility and scale of service provider networks. Extreme Networks was among 21 equipment vendors that participated in a two-week program that successfully tested interoperability for MPLS technology, applications and services. Testing was facilitated by engineers from the University of New Hampshire and NetWorld + Interop's iLabs. The tests, which ran over an RSVP-TE core, included Traffic Engineering using Explicit Routes, Layer 3 BGP/MPLS VPN tunnels and Ethernet over MPLS tunnels. "Service Providers rely on Extreme Networks to gain Metro solutions that are highly dependable, cost effective, and proven to be interoperable with other leading equipment," said Duncan Potter, vice president of marketing for Extreme Networks. "Our role in the MPLS Forum, in combination with our participation in the most recognized multi-vendor lab tests for MPLS, demonstrates our commitment to providing a superior network infrastructure for our customers." Extreme Networks will also participate in the MPLS Forum's "Ready for Revenue" MPLS showcase from June 4-6 during SUPERCOMM 2002 in Atlanta. The showcase will feature the same 21 vendors and will occur at the MPLS Forum booth (Hall C2, booth #11559, Georgia World Congress Center). Extreme Networks Inc.
