SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Alliance Fiber Optic Products, Inc. (Nasdaq:AFOP), a leading supplier of fiber optic components and integrated modules for the optical network equipment market, today announced that it plans to demonstrate its new SODA Router Module at the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference which will take place July 8-12, 2001 at the Baltimore Convention Center, Baltimore, Md. AFOP has been assigned Booth no. 5842. The AFOP SODA (switchable optical drop/add) Router is enabling technology for dynamic wavelength management applications. The SODA Router integrates optical switching and DWDM filtering functionalities to allow programmable wavelength routing and wavelength drop/add functionality with significantly reduced insertion loss found in alternative approaches. The new SODA Router's scalable design is based on AFOP's patent-pending technology SODA building blocks. By routing wavelengths between two fibers and at the same time dropping or adding additional wavelengths the SODA Router can enhance system design flexibility while increasing the efficiency of system architecture and performance options.
