The Chicago Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT) Commissioner and CIO Brenna Berman has focused on transforming the team at DoIT to align with Mayor Rahm Emanuelís commitment to utilizing data and technology to create a more efficient, effective, and innovative city government. This includes adding new skills to the IT team to increase the focus on software engineering and analytics, improving the departmentís commercial partnerships to drive savings for the city, and creating other civic partnerships. Berman also has overseen the ongoing integration of Chicagoís SmartData spatial analytics platform into every level of government. Previously, Berman spent over 10 years at IBM, where she worked closely with government agencies in cities and countries across the world to leverage technology and analytics to improve services. She has a BA and MA in public policy from the University of Chicago.
