BALTIMORE – NFOEC – Optical Switch, a provider of transparentoptical switching products and microphotonics services, today announced theexpansion of its Kaleidoscope(tm) product line with the industry's firsttransparent, CompactPCI® module - the Kaleidoscope(tm) 16x1 CompactPCI®module. Optical Switch will demonstrate the new module at NFOEC 2001 inBooth 6153 at the Baltimore Convention Center, July8-12, 2001.Optical Switch's live demonstration at NFOEC will highlight aKaleidoscope(tm) 16x1 CompactPCI® module, providing optical switchingfunctions with insertion loss levels of 0.6dB and repeatability levels of-0.03dB. By offering unparalleled insertion loss and repeatability levels, the new module ensures consistent network performance across a wide range ofenvironmental conditions."Today's network and system operators are demanding solutions that willresult in maximum returns from their fiber investments. By packaging ourKaleidoscope(tm) 16x1 module in accordance with the increasingly popularCompactPCI® technology, we are meeting customer requirements for thedevelopment of highly reliable and easy-to-deploy optical solutions," saidJeremy Chappell, vice president of business development at Optical Switch. In a separate release:Optical Switch, a provider of transparentoptical switching products and microphotonics services, announced today theaddition of chirped phase masks to its microphotonics product portfolio. The addition of chirped phase masks further solidifies Optical Switch'scommitment to the fiber Bragg grating (FBG) phase mask market. OpticalSwitch introduced uniform period FBG phase masks at OFC 2001. Samples ofphase masks, distributed feedback (DFB) laser gratings, motheyeanti-reflective surfaces and subwavelength structures will be displayed atNFOEC 2001 in Baltimore, July 8-12, at Booth #6153."Our fully automated interference lithography systems have given us a stronglead in the development of chirped phase masks," said Jeremy Chappell, vicepresident of business development at Optical Switch. "The fiber Bragggrating market has clearly identified its evolving need for chirped phasemasks that meet the stringent uniformity requirements and are delivered in atimely manner. Our production tools will meet these objectives."Optical Switch Corp. For more information on NFOEC, please visit the Light Reading NFOEC Site.
