Catapult Offers MMS Testing

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Catapult Communications Corporation (NASDAQ:CATT), today announced new capabilities for its MGTS i3000 Message Generator & Traffic Simulator test system that allow users to test Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS). Catapult MGTS users can now test a variety of MMS network nodes and the associated interfaces.

MMS is supported by the two main third-generation (3G) wireless communications technologies -- UMTS and cdma2000 -- and makes it possible for users to send and receive multimedia messages including text, images, audio and video. The Catapult MGTS test system can now be used to simulate various MMS network nodes such as the WAP Gateway and the MMS Relay/Server. A comprehensive set of protocols (SMTP, HTTP, PAP, UCP and MAP) is available for testing the MM1, MM3, MM4 and MM5 interfaces. Large binary objects such as JPEG images and XML scripts, which are commonly found in MMS messages, are supported.
