ATLANTA -- Supercomm 2001 -- Infineon Technologies (FSE/NYSE: IFX), a leadingsupplier of communications and fiber optics IC solutions, today announced atSupercomm the industry's first OC-768 (40 Gbit/s) multiplexer/demultiplexer(MUX/DEMUX) chipset for next generation synchronous opticalnetworking/synchronous digital hierarchy (SONET/SDH) communication systems.The new chipset forms a core part of the company's complete end-to-end linecard solution for OC-768, and will enable makers of high-speed transmissionsystems to quickly implement emerging applications such as metropolitan areanetworks (MAN) at a competitive price.In a separate release:Infineon Technologies (FSE/NYSE: IFX), a leading supplier of communications integrated circuits, today announced at Supercomm the availability of SOCRATES™ 4, the industry’s lowest power, symmetrical high-bit rate digital subscriber line (SHDSL) transceiver that combines four complete SHDSL channels, analog and digital, on a single device, making it ideal for multi-channel applications such as high-density linecards used in DSLAMs and DLCs.“The growing demand for higher density systems is driving system vendors to seek higher integration and lower power silicon solutions.
