BALTIMORE – NFOEC – DiCon Fiberoptics, a leading manufacturer of fiberoptic components, modules, and test instruments, introduced 6 new products today at the NFOEC in Baltimore, Maryland. These new products are on display at Booth number 6007 from July 9-11.Multi-Channel MEMS Attenuator Module combines either 8 or 10 of the world's smallest variable attenuators in a single module measuring just 38x28x9 mm. This Multi-Channel Module allows each independently controlled attenuator to be continuously adjusted between 0 and 30 dB by setting the voltage between 0 and 5 VDC. Typical applications include Dynamic Band Equalization, Automatic Gain Control of the power level coming into receivers and channel power equalization within Optical Add/Drop Multiplexers.Multi-Channel MEMS On-Off Switch Module combines either 8 or 10 of the world's smallest On-Off Switch in a single module measuring just 38x28x9 mm. This Multi-Channel Module allows each independently controlled On-Off Switch to be set to either the low loss (0.8 dB max.) or high isolation (50 dB min.) positions by driving the voltage to either 0 or 5 VDC. Typical applications include shuttering of banks of transmission systems lasers during initial power up. 4-Function Amplifier Passive is the first of a family of over 20 new passive components based on a novel planar passives platform. Within this platform up to 6 passive functions (such as isolators, gain flattening filters, pump couplers, tap couplers, telemetry filters and photodiodes) can be built in series using just a single set of input and output collimating lenses. Hence loss reductions on the signal path of more than 1.0 dB can readily be achieved along with a size reduction of more than 50%. The 4 Function Amplifier Passive combines a pump coupler, isolator, 4% tap and telemetry filter in a compact housing measuring just 11x55x5.5 mm.Polarization Beam Combiner is a micro-optic component using internal faraday rotators for the purpose of combining pump laser inputs with orthogonal polarization states. The Polarization Beam Combiner has demonstrated long term reliability with total input power levels up to 2.0 watts. Hence it can be used in long haul or ultra long gain modules based on either erbium fiber or raman amplification.50 GHz Thin Filter uses a five cavity thin film coated filter chip to achieve 0.1 nm min. passbands with 25 dB typical adjacent channel isolation. 50 GHz filters based on thin film technology are significantly less expensive than filters built with a combination of fiber bragg grating and circulator. This two port device can be used as a channel selection filter in front of transmission system receivers for wavelength channel plans operating on a 50 GHz grid.
