SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Yipes Communications, Inc., the defining provider of scalable bandwidth on demand, has chosen LuxN's WavSystem platform to enable Dense Wave Division Multiplexing over its optical IP networks, the companies announced today. In addition to multiplying the bandwidth available in Yipes' regional networks, LuxN's unique products will allow Yipes to carry multiple protocols and introduce industry-leading network monitoring capabilities to enhance service level agreements (SLAs).

LuxN's cost-effective DWDM equipment, including its WavStation (WS 3234), WavFarer (WS3217) and WS 3208 products, will support up to 16 separate wavelengths over Yipes' core regional networks, each running at speeds up to OC-48 (2.5 Gigabits per second) and migrating to OC-192 (10 Gigabits per second) later this year. As Yipes' network traffic grows, particularly in regions where fiber supply is limited, LuxN's products will help ensure Yipes' leadership in affordable, scalable network services.

In a separate release:

LuxN, Inc., a provider of multi-service, intelligent, metropolitan optical access network platforms, today announced the LuxN WS 3208 - the highest wavelength density chassis in the optical industry, supporting up to four wavelengths over a fiber pair in 3.5 inches of height. The LuxN WS 3208 will be demonstrated at SuperComm 2001 in booth No. 450D, June 5-7th, with general availability expected in July of 2001.

Designed for use at either the carrier's POP or a CPE location, the LuxN WS 3208 offers the most dense, compact and cost-efficient optical access platform in the industry today. An integral element of the LuxN WavSystem(TM), the LuxN WS 3208 supports up to four CWDM or DWDM optical wavelengths in only two rack-units (RU) of chassis height. Redundant AC/DC power supplies, cooling systems, and management modules provide the highest levels of system reliability while maintaining the smallest physical footprint in its class.

LuxN, Inc., a provider of multi-service, intelligent, metropolitan optical access network platforms, today announced the LuxN Optical Service Level Management System (OSLM). LuxN OSLM enables service providers to deploy and manage services cost-effectively while maintaining a high level of reliability. The LuxN OSLM will be demonstrated at SuperComm 2001 in booth No. 450D, June 5-7th, with general availability expected in September of 2001.

LuxN OSLM architecture and highly sophisticated integration capability with other operations support systems (OSS), in conjunction with LuxN equipment, enable service providers to offer DWDM services at competitive price points in the access and metro- access markets. Offering real-time monitoring, remote point and click provisioning and upgradability of bandwidth through LuxN's proprietary ColorValve technology, the LuxN OSLM provides a unique capability to deploy and manage services over DWDM.

In a separate release:

LuxN, Inc., a provider of multi-service, intelligent, metropolitan optical access network platforms, today announced the LuxN Optical- Unidirectional Path Switch Ring (O-UPSR) and Lambda Path Switch Rings (LPSR) to provide path and hardware protection for metro access rings. The LuxN O-UPSR and LPSR systems will be demonstrated at SuperComm 2001 in booth no. 450D, June 5-7. The LuxN LPSR is currently shipping and LuxN O-UPSR will be available in the third calendar quarter of 2001.

LuxN LPSR and LuxN O-UPSR provide protocol independent protection at the physical layer. LuxN LPSR offers path protection on single or dual fiber rings to enable diverse routing capabilities in the event of fiber failure. Fault detection can be discovered in less than 3 milliseconds and switch channels in less than 25 milliseconds using LuxN LPSR. LuxN O-UPSR offers optical connectivity in hub-and-spoke and any-to-any topologies with support for up to 16 wavelengths. Offering a lower cost solution with a longer reach, LuxN LPSR and LuxN O-UPSR each offer service providers network reliability.
