Powerful unique grating manufacturing technique provides a disruptive dispersion compensation solution

EVELEIGH/SYDNEY, Australia -- Redfern Optical Components, a leading supplier of next-generation fiber-based components and subsystems for the worldwide optical networking marketplace, is displaying test results of a dispersion compensator for 512 x 25GHz spaced DWDM channels in a package measuring 2 inches by 7 inches. This device compensates for dispersion of a 70 km long standard optical fiber link within each of 64 channels on 8 separate fibers. In a multiplexed application this new ROC product is able to compensate for dispersion over a 100nm bandwidthRedfern Optical Components' ROC DirectRite(tm) technology gives it unparalleled ability to manage dispersion. The process has also been applied to its high-end filter products with minimal dispersion over the filter bandwidth. These ROC HiFi(tm) filters set a new benchmark for DWDM filters where performance has traditionally been limited by dispersion.
