BALTIMORE and SANTA ROSA, Calif. -- Cierra Photonics, Inc. today announced the development of a five-cavity optical filter chip capable of 25 GHz DWDM channel spacing, an innovation that surpasses previously existing technology and fulfills the promise of enabling significantly higher network performance at lower cost. Cierra's terra-Q(R) 25G-5 is the latest extension of the company's barrier-breaking thin-film filter technology, which is being demonstrated this week at the 2001 National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference at the Baltimore Convention Center (Booth #2702) in Baltimore, Md. "The development of the terra-Q 25G-5 validates our approach to developing wavelength discrimination components, as well as demonstrating that our AED II process can achieve a superior level of performance," Cierra Chairman and CEO Glenn Yamamoto said.
