For 20 years now, Living Cities
-- a public, private, philanthropic partnership -- has been striving to make
"material improvements in the lives of low income people, cities, and the systems that affect them." President and CEO Ben Hecht has appeared here at Future Cities, describing the challenges
faced by urban communities in this globalized economy.
Recently, Living Cities announced the appointment of Nigel Jacob as part-time Urban Technologist in Residence. Jacob is a member of the Board of the nonprofit urban technology project Code for America. He was a co-founder of the Mayor's Office of New Urban Mechanics in Boston, which aims to use "an approach to civic innovation focused on delivering transformative City services to residents." Formerly he was the City of Boston's Senior Advisor for emerging technologies.
