Re: Code for America, an interesting idea
The political process is often the spoiler. Isn't that why they say sometimes that gridlock is good?

Good point ... I can see there being a great need for high-level sponsorship in order to demonstrate value/inclusion, etc. - and the abilitity to navigate bureaucracy.

@kq4dm, sounds great in principle. After seeing the Fort Lauderdale city council in action I'm not sure better ordinances have much chance...sigh.

Re: Code for America, an interesting idea
An urban technologist seems like a great idea even a part-timer who could conceivably be hired out to many communities. But, getting past elected officials and existing codes and community regulations might be tougher than thought. The technologist should work with all elements of the community planning departments as well as city/county commissions to draft better ordinances to enable the best infrastructure there can be.

Code for America, an interesting idea
Kim, thanks for posting this. I wasn't aware of Living Cities or Code for America, and will be looking to see what they have to offer. I see that there is a Code for Miami but so far no Code for Fort Lauderdale...if I like what I see maybe I'll have to starrt one ;)
