Thank you for these photos Nicole. I definitely enjoy the shots that are less "photoshopped".

Re: Diversity But Commonaltiy
Wow, amazing city photos indeed. Thank you for putting together and for sharing this gallery, Nicole. Sometimes the world feels incredibly small, when you're stuck at the office or at home working ceaselessly. Then you open your eyes and realize that there's so much more out there and that's what you're working for: to hopefully get outside and see more of it. Love the gallery!

More photos
Just to complement this slideshow of city photos, I thought I'd link to this blog I was just looking at on Planetizen.

Here's how the landscape architect who took these pictures describes his photographic mission here: "I set the goal for myself to see as many places as possible – new ones and old favorites – in a 24-hour period... I wanted to see these places as they exist in the real world – the frigid world – and not as typically displayed in design magazines, where they are professionally photographed in full bloom and full of happy people."

Enjoy! 24 Hours in Manhattan's Winter Landscape

Re: And no jet lag!
Ha, that's one of my favorites too, Terry... Next time I move I'm going to attempt the same... may be tougher with an entire apartment building, but it'd make for a good blog.

Glad you enjoyed the slideshow!

And no jet lag!
Wow... around the world in 30 clicks! Nice one, FC staff and contributors. I particularly like the "Moving Day" shot from the Phillipines. Nice to see urban settings beyond the postcard views and truly get off the beaten path.

Re: Diversity But Commonaltiy
Well said, kq4ym! What I especially like about these photos is they represent the point of view of the citizen and capture what people traveling through these cities (as opposed to professional photographers) felt was noteworthy.

Diversity But Commonaltiy
I don't know where I've been to have missed these delightful groups of city photos in UBM Future Cites.  But, it's refreshing to see that there's beauty all around us as we often scurry from building to building in our daily lives, often missing the real people and real magnificence of the scenes before us.
